Job summary

CJ OLIVE YOUNG USA is bringing South Korea’s No. 1 beauty retailer to the U.S. with the Assistant Store Manager role in Irvine. You will lead by example on the sales floor, develop your team, and ensure operational excellence while driving seasonal promotions and business initiatives.

You will coach staff, manage daily operations, and deliver an exceptional in-store experience, contributing to a high-performing team and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead store operations and staff to align with OLIVE YOUNG standards.
  • Coach and develop team; provide regular feedback and training.
  • Drive sales through promotions, omnichannel initiatives, and KPI tracking.
  • Manage floor, stock, cash handling, and safety/compliance tasks.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and labor law adherence.
  • Act as Manager on Duty when required; ensure smooth opening/closing procedures.

Job description

Base Salary Range: $71,000-$85,000 annually

Additional Compensation: Eligible to participate in a discretionary, performance-based incentive program. Incentive payments are not guaranteed.

About the Role

As an OLIVE YOUNG Assistant Store Manager, you lead by example, inspiring customers on their healthy beauty journey while building and developing your team to successfully deliver the OLIVE YOUNG brand to the U.S. retail market for the very first time. You are a key leader on the sales floor and a trusted partner to the Store Manager -driving daily operations, managing the team, and ensuring operational excellence.

Beyond daily operations, you play a strategic role in driving sales performance by leveraging insights and analysis to plan and execute seasonal promotions and business initiatives. You are passionate about developing your team’s skills and supporting their career growth, and you provide regular coaching, feedback, and guidance to build confidence and capability. Through effective team management and proactive leadership, you create an inclusive, high-performing environment that consistently delivers results and brings OLIVE YOUNG’s mission to life.

What You'll Do

The following duties are considered essential functions of the role, including but not limited to the responsibilities outlined below.

  • Sales Strategy Execution: Drive sales execution on the floor by coaching daily selling behaviors, facilitating promotions, overseeing LSM (store self-promotion), and leading omnichannel initiatives through real-time feedback.
  • Performance & KPI Analysis: Track sales and operational trends to meet profit targets, proactively identify risks and opportunities, and partner with the Store Manager to implement tactical adjustments.
  • Inventory Operations Management: Manage end-to-end inventory operations, including automatic replenishment reviews, order accuracy audits, tester management, resolution of misdeliveries and damaged goods, and maintenance of accurate stock flow and organized stockroom standards.
  • Inventory Management: Protect store profitability by managing out-of-stock responses, clearance execution, product disposal, SHD, and stagnant inventory while investigating inventory discrepancies.
  • Customer Experience Elevation: Facilitate a high-quality in-store journey by overseeing sales consultations, transactions, returns, and omnichannel services while resolving customer inquiries and escalations with professionalism.
  • Floor Oversight: Oversee sales floor and back-of-house execution to ensure consistent standards across merchandising, cleanliness, signage, tester hygiene, and the delivery of in-store services and events, such as skin and scalp scan services.
  • Manager on Duty: Supervise and lead store-level Senior Advisors, Advisors, and Crew to align daily priorities with company standards. Serve as a keyholder and manager on duty in the Store Manager’s absence, overseeing store opening and closing procedures, POS operations, and cash-handling controls in accordance with company standards.
  • Cash Management: Manage cash-handling processes, including opening and closing cash tasks, organizing deposits, maintaining adequate change, initiating safe deposits when required, and conducting formal investigations into cash variances or losses, escalating findings as appropriate.
  • Safety & Compliance: Oversee store safety and facility compliance by conducting inspections, reporting system or facility issues, following emergency response procedures, and adhering to company policies, safety standards, and loss prevention practices.
  • Staffing: Lead store staffing and workforce operations by managing scheduling, attendance tracking, payroll coordination, onboarding, and staffing coverage to meet daily business needs. Enforce time and attendance policies, including those related to scheduling, shift coverage, and strict adherence to labor laws.
  • Coaching: Cultivate team growth through on-the-job training, performance coaching, recognition, and skills development while supporting the completion and documentation of required training. Handle employee relations matters professionally and confidentially in partnership with the Store Manager.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • 2+ years of retail, beauty, or customer-facing experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to coach, motivate, and support team development.
  • Proven track record of contributing to sales performance and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Strong sense of ownership, with the ability to remain self-directed, results-oriented, and effective both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with scheduling, time and attendance management, and performance feedback processes.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable using technology such as POS systems, scheduling tools, and tablets to perform store operations and reporting.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to stand, bend, walk, and move for extended periods, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks required to support store operations. This role requires the ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with basic employee relations matters.
  • Preferred: Bilingual in Korean and/or Spanish.
