Job summary

Staples in Greenwich, CT is seeking an Assistant Manager to drive sales, service and customer engagement in-store, leading a team to build relationships and provide total solutions to meet customer needs.

You will guide your team in delivering an exceptional store experience, coaching for performance, and ensuring readiness for business. The role also covers merchandising, operations, and achieving store goals.

Qualifications

• 2+ years managing a sales team in retail or services
• Experience coaching a team in a customer-centric, solutions-based environment
• Ability to engage and speak to customers and understand their needs
• Strong communication, organization, planning and adaptivity to changing priorities
• Review results against goals and devise growth plans
• Manage conflict in a cooperative manner
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Ability to work in a high-paced environment
• Ability to lift/move materials up to 50 pounds and stand/walk continuously

• Develop a high-performing team focused on providing an exceptional store experience, consultative selling, driving conversions and providing total solutions to every customer
• Attain sales and services goals, profit margins and execution of store operations
• Establish business cadence for sales readiness and provide direction for merchandising opportunities
• Delegate operational tasks in partnership with the GM and share responsibility for total store operations and cost control

Essential Skills And Experience

• 2+ years managing a sales team in a retail or services industry
• Experience managing and coaching a team in a customer-centric, solutions-based environment
• Must be able to engage and speak to customers and understand their needs
• Strong communication, organization, planning and adaptive to changing business priorities
• Review results against business goals and strategies and deliver plans for growth and improvement
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Ability to work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Ability to lift/move materials in the 10 - 50 pound range, climb ladders, stand and walk continuously
