Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Store Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a focus on employee development, and inventory management expertise. This role is vital in creating a positive shopping experience and maintaining store standards.

Pay Range

$21.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
Store Duties:
  • Provide store services such as mixing paint, cutting keys, propane fills, threading/cutting pipe, and cutting glass/plexiglass.
  • Identify and implement staff training and development opportunities.
  • Assist with front-end operations, including returns, refunds, exchanges, and cash handling.
  • Maintain store safety standards and lead safety meetings.
  • Greet customers and ensure a welcoming environment.
  • Manage incoming phone calls professionally.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and support for projects and associates.
Employee Supervision:
  • Oversee store opening and closing procedures.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor employee performance.
  • Train new and existing staff, provide performance feedback, and participate in evaluations.
  • Handle performance issues and disciplinary actions as guided by management.
  • Assist in hiring processes.
Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of inventory levels.
  • Maintain organized and clean inventory areas.
  • Uphold merchandising standards and store appearance.
  • Update pricing, signage, and perform stock-related tasks.
  • Resolve inventory issues promptly and professionally.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong merchandising skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous supervisory or retail management experience, preferably with Ace Hardware.
  • Effective coaching and leadership abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
  • High integrity and commitment to teamwork.
