Learn the operations of all departments and the duties of store management; share responsibility for store performance in all areas of operation/human resources. Perform scheduling, security, maintenance, safety, sanitation, ordering, administration & Human Resource-related duties. Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1 year of experience as department manager, service manager, or equivalent experience
  • Store manager/district manager or direct manager approval

Desired qualifications:

  • Retail management experience & knowledge of all aspects of store operations
  • Staff supervisory experience

The responsibilities include:

  • Assist store manager & associates in providing excellent customer service and developing interest in customer relations.
  • Lead teams in planning, implementing & executing merchandising/operating initiatives.
  • Develop action plans and communicate results to associates.
  • Identify store opportunities, develop solutions, and ensure plan implementation.
  • Model and demand high levels of customer service and address issues.
  • Manage total store operations in the store manager's absence.
  • Achieve sales, wage, profit, safety, and shrink targets.
  • Drive sales and profits, reduce shrink, and improve departmental contributions.
  • Discuss financial performance and budgets with associates.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape.
  • Demonstrate inclusive leadership and promote inclusive behavior.
  • Ensure store departments meet sales/profit goals and execute division plans.
  • Build relationships with community organizations and union representatives if applicable.
  • Communicate effectively with associates and serve as liaison with management.
  • Assist in staffing, reducing turnover, and increasing retention.
  • Provide performance feedback and manage labor and supply costs.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and policies.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews.
