Assistant Store Leader (Finance)

Learn the operations of all departments and the duties of store management; share responsibility for store performance in all areas of operation/human resources. Perform scheduling, security, maintenance, safety, sanitation, ordering, administration & Human Resource-related duties. Minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 1 year of experience as department manager, service manager, or equivalent experience
  • Store manager/district manager or direct manager approval

Desired qualifications:

  • Retail management experience & knowledge of all aspects of store operations
  • Staff supervisory experience

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist store manager & associates in achieving a favorable customer shopping experience & develop associate interest in customer service/relations to enhance Kroger's reputation
  • Lead teams in planning, implementing & executing merchandising/operating initiatives
  • Develop action plans/communications based on Associate Insight survey results
  • Identify store opportunities, develop solutions & create action plans for implementation
  • Model and demand high levels of customer service & resolve issues
  • Manage total store operations in store manager’s absence
  • Achieve/exceed sales, wage, profit budgets & other goals (e.g., safety, shrink)
  • Drive sales and profits, reduce shrink, improve departmental contributions
  • Discuss financial performance with staff and develop budgets
  • Analyze competitive landscape and respond accordingly
  • Demonstrate inclusive leadership and promote diversity
  • Coordinate with field staff to achieve sales & merchandising goals
  • Build relationships with community organizations and union representatives if applicable
  • Communicate effectively with staff to carry out duties
  • Serve as liaison on division merchandising and operational plans
  • Assist in staffing, reducing turnover & increasing retention
  • Provide performance feedback and manage labor & supply costs
  • Ensure compliance with laws and policies
  • Supervise and coach staff, conduct performance reviews
