Joyville, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Store Director for Home & Gift in Dallas. You’ll run the department, manage the sales floor, the team, daily operations, and the numbers, while partnering with the Visual Director to maintain standout store visuals.

You’ll lead 5–6 part-time JoyMakers, own the Hosted Experience, and drive weekly/monthly sales and margins. The role offers a fixed 40-hour schedule, two-week rotation, and opportunities for growth toward Director.

Favor the Kind is a 6,000 square foot gift store in East Dallas, and next year we celebrate our 20th year. We've thrived through the years on one solid mission: people should leave happier than they came in. We call it The Hosted Experience, and it's the reason we exist.

Our flagship has two departments under one roof, Home & Gift and Women's, each run by its own leader. We're hiring the Assistant Store Director for Home & Gift. The department is yours to run: the sales floor, the team on it, the daily operation, and the numbers. Earnest John Honest Goods, our sustainable lifestyle general store, runs through your leadership too.

This is a leadership, sales, and operations seat for someone who believes the greatest work is serving others. We do it by curating gifts and home goods that make people feel joy, and we treat every guest interaction as the most privileged work we do.

If you're looking for a place to grow, this seat has upside. The next level is Director. We level up on skills and results, not on whether a seat is open. If you're leading like a Director, you get promoted to Director.

WHAT YOU OWN

• The Hosted Experience. Every guest who walks in is welcomed, seen, and cared for. You hold the standard and you teach it.
• Host Flow. That's our name for how a store runs from open to close. You're the Manager on Duty, running the day: who's where, who's covering, what gets done in the quiet stretches, and what waits for the rush.
• Visual Victory. You lead the visual program of the Home & Gift floor in partnership with the company's Visual Director. You keep the daily standards that make the store the most talked-about store in town.
• Store Operations . Backstock organization, restock, and quality control all funnel through this department.
• Bridge to Buyers. Being a customer centric store, we respond to our customers' wishes. The ASD has a direct communication line with the buyers to collaborate on the store's product needs.
• Home & Gift sales. You're accountable for your department's weekly and monthly sales and margin. You share a daily sales goal with the Women's department so the floor works as one team.
• The part-time team. You lead a team of 5-6 part-time JoyMakers who help run your department, usually two to three people a day, and you train every new team member.
• Earnest John Honest Goods. Our general store next door is part of your department and held to the same standard.
  

THE SCHEDULE

Everyone on our salaried team works a balanced 40-hour week: four 8.5-hour days and one 6-hour day. You get two days off every week on a fixed two-week rotation, with every other weekend off. Your rotation never changes, so you can always predict your days off.

Owning the front half of the store means most days you're on the floor as Manager on Duty. Tuesday morning is your office block for the numbers and planning.

WHO YOU ARE

• You have 3+ years in retail or hospitality leadership, and you were the person everyone looked to when the day got hectic.
• You're systems‑minded. You like a checklist that gets done and a store that's set before the doors open.
• You lead with kindness and you hold a standard, both at once. You deliver feedback in a way that makes people excited to learn and grow.
• You care about numbers because they tell you whether the room is working. You use reports and scores to strategize ways to improve.
• You care about the store's success and your team, and the growth proves it.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• At 30 days: you're delivering the Hosted Experience, you're running Host Flow, and the team trusts you as their coach and guide. They know if you encounter something new, you'll seek clarity. Your partnership with the Women's Assistant Store Director is solid and your goals are aligned.
• At 90 days: you've led the department through its busiest season. You're raving about the privilege we share in helping our customers with their holiday gifting. The Hosted Experience and Host Flow earn top marks on our store scorecard, and you and the leadership team are building the store's strategy for 2027.
• At a year: the store is thriving because of your quest for leadership, culture, and sales success. You are on your way to a level up. We're building that path with you.
