Job summary

Livingstone College is seeking an Assistant Sports Performance Coach to join the Athletics department. The role develops, implements, and administers strength and conditioning programs for 14 varsity teams, working with coaches and athletic trainers to optimize student-athlete health and performance.

The position supports NCAA/CIAA policies and is a full-time, 10-month appointment; Livingstone College competes in NCAA Division II within CIAA.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
• NSCA-CSCS or CSCCa-CSSS Certification.
• CPR/AED certifications.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Ability to safely demonstrate Olympic lifts, sprint mechanics, and assist with equipment setup and spotting.

Responsibilities

• Design and safely implement an evidence-based strength and conditioning program for assigned varsity sports.
• Abide by NCAA and CIAA rules while cultivating a development culture.
• Communicate with coaches about team thoughts/concerns and implement changes.
• Teach exercise techniques and modifications for safety and injury prevention.
• Collaborate with Sports Medicine to ensure athlete health.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate AD of Sports Performance.
• Collect and assess data to guide periodization for the teams.
• Help manage the weight room with scheduling, budgeting, and equipment maintenance.
