Job summary

Roxbury Community College is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach to support the development and success of the college's softball program. Job Description:

Roxbury Community College (RCC) is seeking a motivated, knowledgeable, and student-centered Assistant Softball Coach to support the development and success of the College's softball program. RCC provides a unique opportunity to help build and advance collegiate softball within the New England community-college landscape.The Assistant Softball Coach will work closely with the Head Coach and Athletics Department to develop student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally. The position will assist with practices, game preparation, recruiting, player development, team management, and the overall administration of the softball program.

Assist the Head Coach with the planning and implementation of daily practices, workouts, and team activities.

Teach and develop fundamental softball skills, including hitting, pitching, catching, throwing, fielding, baserunning, and position-specific techniques.

Assist with offensive and defensive game planning and preparation.

Assist with recruiting prospective student-athletes and maintaining relationships with high-school, club, travel-ball, and community softball programs.

Follow all College, athletic department, conference, and applicable governing body policies and regulations.

Assist with equipment organization, field preparation, uniforms, inventory, and other program-related responsibilities.

Attend practices, games, team meetings, recruiting activities, and other events as assigned.

Represent Roxbury Community College and the softball program professionally at games, recruiting events, community activities, and other public functions.

Requirements:

Qualifications

Playing and/or coaching experience in softball.

Knowledge of fundamental softball skills, strategy, and game management.

Ability to communicate effectively with college-aged student athletes.

Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach, Athletics Department, College personnel, and community partners.

Commitment to student-athlete development and academic success.

Ability to attend practices, competitions, recruiting events, and other activities required by the program.

Preferred

Collegiate softball playing or coaching experience.

Previous experience coaching at the high-school, club, travel, collegiate, or equivalent level.

Experience recruiting student athletes.

Knowledge of community-college athletics and the unique needs of community-college student-athletes.

Additional Information:

This is a seasonal contract. Assistant Coach will be compensated for the timeline of the contract/season.

Softball Season: November 1, 2026 to May 15th, 2027

Hiring is not finalized until completion of Background Check.

Compensation: $6,000 for the Season
