Job summary

The Oakland University Assistant Softball Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in developing a NCAA Division I softball program for student-athletes, within the rules and policies of The NCAA and Conference legislated guidelines.

The assistant coach must also assist in the training and development of team/players on and off the field; liaison for academics and other departments on campus; Assist with travel arrangements and ordering of softball equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Five or more years of coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of softball and experience coaching, playing, training or developing softball athletes.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and develop student-athletes in the technical, tactical and physical aspect of softball.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University.
  • Offensive/Hitting coaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit top Division I student-athletes.
  • Experience in practice planning, evaluating student-athletes, and managing travel schedules/itineraries.
  • Experience in fund raising efforts and events.

  • Assist the head coach in developing a NCAA Division I softball program for student-athletes.
  • Liaise for academics and other departments on campus; assist with travel arrangements and ordering of softball equipment.
  • Coordinate travel and support team development while adhering to NCAA and Conference guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Perform all duties in accordance with NCAA , Conference and University rules, regulations, ordinances, polices, procedures and guidelines.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University’s insurance carrier.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
