Piedmont is hiring an Assistant Site Lead to support the Schoolmates program. This part-time role involves supervising children, ensuring their safety, and assisting in educational and recreational activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child development and recreation supervision.
Responsibilities include responding to participant inquiries, leading diverse activities, and maintaining program equipment. Candidates must hold an Associate’s degree and relevant certifications. The position offers flexible hours, Monday to Friday, 20–29 hours per week.
The Assistant Site Lead will assist the Schoolmates Site Lead in all areas of the program and may fill in for the Site Lead on occasion. The role involves supervising and guiding children throughout the program.
Key responsibilities include:
Receives general supervision from the Recreation Supervisor and the Schoolmates Site Lead. Provides supervision to part‑time staff and volunteers.
Knowledge of:
Ability to Assist and/or Lead:
Equivalent to an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in child development, early childhood education, recreation or a related field, and two (2) years of experience working with youth in a group setting. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
Licenses, Certifications and Vaccinations:
Must have strength, stamina and mobility to perform moderate physical work, including lifting and carrying recreation equipment up to 35 pounds for extended periods. Flexibility to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Visual acuity sufficient for computer work. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone.
Employees work in a school setting with loud to moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and outdoors. Incumbents may be exposed to blood and body fluids requiring first aid and CPR and must wear appropriate attire for the recreation activity assigned. Employees may interact with challenging staff and/or public and private representatives.
Must be fingerprinted for submission to the California Department of Justice for work with children.
This part‑time at‑will position requires an average of 20–29 hours per week, typically Monday–Friday, and anytime between 1:00–6:15 pm. Hours may not exceed 1,400 per year. Management reserves the right to change work hours.
