EcoSchool Assistant Site Coordinator

Afterschool & Summer Youth Programs | Part-time | Traverse City, MI

Employment Basis Part-time

Program Location: Traverse Heights Elementary Schools, Traverse City, MI

Age Group: Elementary School (K-5)

Wage starting at $18.48/hour

Essential Roles

• Program Support & Implementation: Assist the Site Coordinator in planning, preparing, and conducting high-quality programming that aligns with grant objectives and supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Leadership & Supervision: Help lead site operations, manage classrooms independently when needed, and provide direction to support staff in the absence of the Site Coordinator.
• Compliance & Documentation: Assist in the accurate and timely completion of required reports, attendance records, child enrollment forms, and other documentation required for licensed child care.
• Collaboration & Safety: Build positive relationships with staff, students, and school personnel while maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive learning environment and responding appropriately to emergencies.

What You Need Coming In

We don't expect you to know everything on day one. We do need you to bring:

• A high school diploma or GED
• Be at least 18 years of age, 19 years old preferred
• At least one year of experience working with youth
• The ability to connect well with children
• The ability to work independently and lead others when needed
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Comfort with everyday technology such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
• First Aid/CPR certification
• The ability to pass required background checks and meet applicable child-care licensing requirements
• The physical ability to actively participate in youth programming - including standing, getting up and down from the floor, lifting up to 30 lbs., being outdoors all seasons in Michigan weather, and hiking on uneven terrain.

Additional school-age training, substantial direct experience working with school-aged children, and previous supervisory experience is preferred rather than required.
