General Summary & Scope
The Assistant Services Manager (ASM) leads a team of stylists and estheticians, supporting sales growth in hair and skin services, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence. The ASM supports the Experience Manager in leading the team and also provides services to guests.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Performance
- Perform salon hair services, makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
- Achieve individual productivity goals weekly.
- Promote accountability to meet sales, loyalty, payroll, and inventory goals.
- Drive profitability through operational excellence and sales growth.
- Support and execute service events to enhance guest experience and meet sales targets.
- Analyze financial and operational reports regularly.
- Address underperformance and implement strategies for improvement.
- Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services.
- Maintain attendance and hold team accountable.
People
- Support attraction, hiring, and retention of diverse top talent.
- Build an engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand.
- Train, coach, and develop team members.
- Create an inclusive environment promoting growth and engagement.
- Support professional development and succession planning.
- Foster collaborative relationships with peers and partners.
Process
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
- Review and respond to company communications promptly.
- Manage inventory and store supplies efficiently.
- Use task management tools to prioritize store tasks.
- Protect assets and minimize loss.
- Support continuous improvement and technology adoption.
- Assist in scheduling to optimize traffic and productivity.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Cosmetology school graduate
- Cosmetology license and/or management license as required by law
Experience
- 2-3+ years in salon management or relevant experience
- Knowledge of state board regulations and hiring requirements
- Experience with financial management, sales, and expense control
- Leadership experience in attracting and motivating talent
Skills
- Proficiency in salon techniques and service categories
- Basic technology skills (POS, MS Office, Apple devices)
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt
Special Position Requirements
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Attend meetings and conferences
- Physical mobility and ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
