Job summary

The City of Derby is seeking a Senior Center Operations Manager to oversee daily services, staff supervision, and program delivery. You will ensure high-quality senior services, coordinate with leadership, and manage safety and compliance while promoting community engagement.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience organizing programs and activities.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and delegate work of others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Derby Senior Center to ensure reliable, high-quality service delivery.
  • Coordinate with the Director to resolve member and patron issues; schedule and ensure coverage for front desk and programs.
  • Supervise, train and develop direct reports; ensure cross-training for continuity of service.
  • Monitor safety and participate in safety inspections and committees.
  • Set performance expectations and evaluate employee performance through reviews.
  • Prepare records and reports to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Manage purchasing requests and order supplies within budget; promote division at events.
  • Create content for City social media and monthly newsletter.

Shift:1st Shift, 5 day work week
Compensation: $66,664.00 per year, DOQ

A Typical Workday May Include:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Derby Senior Center to ensure reliable, high-quality service delivery.
  • Serve as the point of contact for day-to-day issues, coordinating with the Director to resolve member and patron issues. Coordinate, schedule, and ensure coverage for front desk and program operations.
  • S upervise, train, and develop direct reports. Ensure cross training for continuity of service.
  • Monitor and manage Senior Center safety in coordination with Director; participate in City Safety Committee meetings and Senior Center safety inspections.
  • Set individual performance expectations, monitor and evaluate employee performance through informal and formal performance reviews.
  • Assess needs of the Senior Center to determine budgetary impact, assess compatibility with current programs and services, and monitor effectiveness.
  • Prepare and maintain proper records and reports to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Prepare purchasing requests and order supplies and equipment within budgetary and purchasing guidelines. Promote division activities at community events.
  • Create content for use on City sponsored social media and monthly newsletter.
  • Fill in as a group leader for Senior Services programs and activities, as needed.
  • Maintain high levels of member and patron satisfaction; gather feedback and implement improvements.
