Summary/Objective
The Assistant New Car Sales Manager will assist the New Car Sales Manager in managing a team of salespeople to ensure that the dealership meets sales quotas and actualizes its maximum profit potential on new car sales in accordance with dealership and corporate established goals. Essential Functions
- Directs and schedules the work of the employees in the New Car Sales Department
- Assists the New Car Sales Manager in forecasting the goals and objectives for the department
- Assists the New Car Sales Manager in meeting all goals and objectives for the department including but not limited to response rate, floor traffic, appointments set, departmental sales goals, and personal sales goals
- Monitors floor traffic works with New Car Sales staff to ensure customers are greeted promptly and provided information as needed
- Assists New Car Sales team as needed in interaction with customers to provide information, establish rapport, and assist in the sale
- Monitors daily productivity reports of the team and provides coaching and direction to assist team members in meeting personal and departmental goals
- Assist the New Car Sales Manager in establishing and implementing programs that will increase the vehicle gross profit and finance penetration
- Monitor new car sales staff to ensure standards for the delivery of new vehicles to customers are met
- Provides the New Car Sales Manager with accurate floor traffic control data daily
- Reviews inventory daily to ensure the proper mix of inventory and provides recommendations to the New Car Sales Manager
- Recommends vehicle inventory to be carried by color, model, and equipment
- Participates in merchandising and advertising efforts for the sales department
- Maintains accurate daily, weekly, monthly, and on-demand reporting that reflects all sales activities in the dealership
- Processes commission sheets for the sales team and monitors payroll records and timecards for accuracy. Brings any discrepancies to the attention of the New Car Sales Manager for resolution
- Understands the psychology of new car buyers/customers and has the ability to train subordinates and other dealership employees in appropriate methods to draw them into the store for proper vehicle demonstration and to close the transaction
- Communicates effectively with new car buyers/customers and according to their preferred method of communication, whether by phone, by email, or in person, and able to train other subordinates to do the same
- Possesses thorough knowledge of all dealership products and services and can convey this information to subordinates and customers
- Directs customers to product information resources, including those available on the Internet
- Maintains an ongoing customer database to capture repeat business
- Understands the federal, state, and local laws that govern retail automobile sales and ensures that new car sales programs are in compliance
- Maintains reporting systems required by general management and the manufacturer
- Ensures that the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean
- Follows all attendance and punctuality standards with adherence to timekeeping standards
- Follows the Company Code of Business Ethics and Conduct
- Understands and follows all work rules and procedures and follows lawful directions from Supervisors
- Upholds the company's non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements
- Maintains a professional appearance for self and subordinates in accordance with company policy
- Attends pertinent training on request
- Assist with organizing and attending special events held at the dealership or in the community
- Attends company meetings as required

Required Education and ExperienceAssociate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree (B.S or B.A) or equivalent; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in retail automotive sales. Prior experience in supervising, coaching, or mentoring other employees is desired.
