Job summary

Forge Pizza at Oakland International Airport is seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to lead day-to-day operations in a high-volume, guest-forward environment. You will supervise front and back of house, ensure food safety and quality, and manage costs while developing a cohesive team.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years of restaurant management experience, strong MS Office and POS skills, and a proven ability to lead with excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years in restaurant/food service management.
• Full-service restaurant management experience (bar preferred).
• Proficiency in MS Office and POS systems.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Front of House and Back of House operations; supervise, evaluate, and provide feedback to team members.
• Ensure food quality and safety; enforce recipe adherence and portion control.
• Control costs by managing food and labor expenses to maximize profitability.
• Lead and develop the team; recruit, train, and guide staff; set goals and foster a positive work environment.
• Maintain systems and standards; ensure compliance with policies and sanitation regulations.
• Handle merchandising, inventory, signage, and displays.
• Oversee office functions: funds management, inventory, purchasing, scheduling, and payroll.
• Assist in forecasting, budgeting, and sales performance analysis.
• Address routine issues promptly and escalate as needed.

SSP America operates several restaurants throughout the airport, including Oakland Draft House, A’s Clubhouse, Peet’s Coffee, and the soon-to-launch Forge Pizza. We’re looking for a motivated and experiencedAssistant Restaurant Managerto join our team and help us bring the Forge Pizza brand to life!

What You’ll Do:

• Oversee Front and Back of House Operations:Supervise, manage, and evaluate Team Member performance, providing feedback and ensuring task completion.
• Ensure Food Quality and Safety:Maintain recipe adherence, portion control, and compliance with brand and food safety standards.
• Control Costs:Manage food and labor expenses to maximize profitability.
• Lead and Develop the Team:Recruit, train, and guide a team of dedicated Food Travel Experts. Set goals and foster a positive, efficient work environment.
• Maintain Systems and Standards:Ensure compliance with company policies, state health, and sanitation regulations.

• Office Management:Oversee funds management, inventory, purchasing, scheduling, and payroll.
• Forecasting and Budgeting:Assist in sales performance monitoring and budget analysis.
• Problem Solving:Address and elevate routine issues as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

• Education:High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree or relevant coursework preferred.
• Experience:2+ years in restaurant/food service management.
• Skills:Full-service restaurant management (with bar experience), proficiency in MS Office and POS systems, and strong organizational abilities.
• Interpersonal Skills:Strong communication skills, ability to work with executives and diverse teams, and a proven track record in conflict resolution.
