Job Summary

We are seeking a Research Assistant Professor position in the department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics at Drexel University. The new faculty member will support the Army Futures Command and DEVCOM to further ramp up research project deliverables in advance of a program pivot towards a federal Program Objective Memorandum (POM) to support agency needs.

Essential Functions

  • Work with others in group and collaborators at other institutions to address data and analysis challenges and opportunities associated with new ferroic materials and their properties, manage project databases, and interpret results.
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigator to use project findings to raise the visibility of the research and to disseminate findings.
  • Author/co-author publications and presentations for academic audiences, funding agencies, and the general public.
  • Contribute to grant applications related to these projects and others.
  • Serve as a core member of the Mesoscale Materials Lab and collaborate with other lab project teams, which include faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate research assistants.
  • Carry out thin-film deposition and analysis of epitaxial thin film materials.
  • Design test structures and basic devices, and perform testing and analysis.
  • Perform routine diagnostics and maintenance of experimental systems, and interact with OEMs to identify remedies, as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum of 0-3 years of relevant experience.
