Job summary

University at Albany seeks an Assistant Provost for Library and Information Services to lead system-wide library services across SUNY, guiding strategy, operations, and shared services. The role focuses on emerging technologies, AI, and digital transformation to enhance teaching, research, and resource sharing.

Reporting to the Senior Associate Provost, the position oversees OLIS budgets, licensing, and vendor relationships, while supervising multiple OLIS leadership roles.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university
• At least six years of progressive leadership experience in higher education libraries
• Experience managing personnel, budgets, and organizational resources
• Experience overseeing technology-enabled services, digital platforms, or enterprise systems

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for planning, development, delivery, communication, and promotion of system-wide library and information services
• Direct OLIS operations including budgets, staffing, technology investments, and resource allocation
• Oversee shared licensing programs, contracts, vendor agreements, assessments, analytics, and reporting
• Lead initiatives related to scholarly communication, repository services, data management, digital scholarship, and open science
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with SUNY campuses, vendors, consortia, and external partners
• Supervise OLIS staff and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture
