Job summary

SUNY Ulster, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is seeking an Assistant Director of Library Services to lead and advance the library’s content resources, technology, and instructional initiatives.

Reporting to the Director of Library Services, this role oversees operations, provides technical expertise for library and distance learning efforts, and collaborates with faculty and departments to enhance

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library Science from an A.L.A. accredited program.
• At least two years’ professional experience in an academic library setting demonstrating progressive responsibility.
• Demonstrated skills in automated systems, online services, effective communication and supervision required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day to day operations within the Library when the Director of Library Services is not present.
• Establish policies and procedures for daily operation in consultation with the Director.
• Enforce library policies and procedures and support collection development.
• Coordinate outreach with area high schools to promote library visits.
• Administer Library Management System including resource sharing (ILL) and virtual chat platforms.
