Job summary

University at Albany, SUNY is seeking an Assistant Provost to provide system-level leadership for library and information services across SUNY. The role guides emerging technologies, including AI, and supports the digital transformation of information ecosystems for teaching, learning, and research.

As the primary system voice for shared library initiatives, the Assistant Provost connects technology, scholarship, teaching, and resource sharing to maximize impact.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
• At least six years of progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education libraries, including library information systems, research support, resource sharing, and other technology-enabled services.
• Experience managing personnel, budgets, and organizational resources.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and leading strategy execution within a complex organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for planning, development, delivery, communication, and promotion of system-wide library and information services, aligning with SUNY priorities.
• Direct the Office of Library and Information Services operations, including budgets, staffing, and resource allocation; oversee licensing programs and contracts.
• Lead system-wide initiatives related to scholarly communication, repository services, research data management, digital scholarship, and emerging technologies.
• Oversee shared library systems, technologies, and digital infrastructure across SUNY to support teaching, learning, and research.
• Develop collaborative relationships with SUNY campuses, external organizations, and strategic partners to advance shared services.
• Supervise and develop OLIS staff and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture.
