Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group’s Blue Man Group North American Tour seeks an Assistant Props Technician. You will maintain, prepare, and operate props, run assigned tracks, and assist with load-ins and repairs during a fast-paced tour.

The role supports the Head of Props and may swing to other departments as needed, including video, carpentry, LX and wardrobe, across multiple venues.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years in theatrical run crew, props, or tech production.
• Ability to read cue sheets and maintenance docs.
• Willingness to travel domestically for Nov 2026–Dec 2026.
• Experience with carpentry, painting, and pneumatics is a plus.

About The Role

Blue Man Group, part of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, is seeking a skilled and reliable Assistant Props Technician for the 2026 A New Holiday Surprise Touring production.

The Assistant Props Technician plays an essential role in ensuring the smooth execution of all prop‑related show elements. Working under the direction of the Head of Props, this position is responsible for maintaining, preparing, and operating show props and consumables, running assigned tracks during performances, and assisting with prop load‑ins, repairs, and daily maintenance. The position may also step in as a swing, supporting other departments—including Video, Carpentry, and LX and wardrobe—when coverage is needed. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and thrives in a fast‑paced touring environment.

Key Responsibilities

Show Operations and Running Tracks

• Execute prop tracks as assigned, including preset, show cues, shoe cues, turnovers, and post-show duties in a safe, professional, and efficient manner.
• Work closely with the Head of Props to ensure consistency and accuracy in all show-related elements.
• Participate in daily maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of props and consumables.
• Troubleshoot and resolve prop or cue-related issues quickly to minimize performance disruption.
• Assist with adapting prop setups and tracks to venue‑specific layouts and conditions.
• Support special events, press appearances, and promotional performances as required.

Maintenance and Fabrication

• Assist in the repair, upkeep, and fabrication of props, scenic elements, and consumables as directed by the Head of Props.
• Maintain and organize prop workspaces, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and ready for transport.
• Support inventory tracking, labeling, and restocking of consumables.
• Assist in maintaining and updating maintenance logs and prop documentation.

Load‑In, Load‑Out, and Touring Support

• Participate in all prop-related load‑in and load‑out activities, ensuring efficient setup and tear‑down at each venue.
• Assist with packing, labeling, and transportation of props and consumables between cities.
• Lend support to other departments during load‑in and load‑out as needed.
• Maintain clear communication with the Head of Props and department heads during transitions between tour stops.

Safety and Collaboration

• Adhere to all Blue Man Group and CDSEG health and safety policies, always ensuring safe working practices.
• Follow established protocols for handling, cleaning, and transporting props, tools, and materials.
• Support a positive backstage culture by promoting teamwork, respect, and open communication across departments.
• Immediately report any safety concerns, equipment issues, or performance hazards to the Head of Props.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow cue sheets, track notes, and maintenance documentation accurately.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and a clear understanding of live performance operations.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry, painting, and pneumatics a plus.
• Must be able to travel domestically for extended periods (Nov 2026–Dec 2026) and maintain eligibility for U.S. employment and travel.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full‑time, exempt touring contract offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus benefits during active tour periods.
