Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to assist in the technical and administrative direction and supervision of projects. This role involves constant communication with the Project Manager and the client to ensure project completion according to the contract. The Assistant Project Manager may serve as Project Manager on smaller projects to develop skills for a career in Project Management.

Water and Wastewater Management

Our team develops creative solutions to ensure communities receive safe, reliable water and wastewater services.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing and designing complex, multi-discipline projects.
• Coordinate project management principles with other disciplines.
• Assist in preparing work plans and labor budgets for approval.
• Utilize the Colliers MVP tool for project design costs.
• Monitor project schedules and budgets to meet or exceed client expectations.
• Oversee work and productivity on assigned projects.
• Achieve goals related to profit, productivity, and deliverables.
• Participate in team meetings, ensuring review procedures are followed.
• Negotiate scope changes with clients, subject to supervisor approval.
• Cross-sell Colliers services when appropriate.
• Ensure all work complies with QA/QC standards and procedures.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with project team members.
• Review monthly labor and cost reports.
• Mentor junior staff in technical and business practices.
• Assist in preparing for public hearings and presentations.
• Work with Billing Department for timely invoicing and follow-up on payments.
• Adhere to Health and Safety policies and SOPs.
• Oversee activities of assigned staff, including performance evaluations.
• Prepare and review proposals and change orders.
• Manage project budgets and schedules.
• Develop conceptual layouts with clients.
• Guide staff on project design.
• Review application submittals and technical reports.
• Conduct team and client meetings.
• Complete project billing on schedule.
• Build strong, trust-based client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering.
• PE license is required.
• Experience with permitting with NC DOH and DEC is required.
• 8+ years in civil/environmental engineering, focusing on water/wastewater design.
• Experience with AutoCAD & OpenRoads is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Design experience with water and wastewater treatment processes.
• Thorough knowledge of permitting requirements for water/wastewater projects.
• Proficient in English for understanding written and verbal communications.
