Job summary

USAM-DC is seeking an ambitious Assistant Project Manager to learn and manage millwork construction projects from inception to completion. You will review shop drawings, architectural plans, and specs, and coordinate with production and field teams to keep projects on track.

You will assist Senior Project Managers, participate in document reviews, and manage communications with customers, designers, and contractors, while developing budgeting and scheduling skills in a dynamic shop-floor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Wood Technology, or related field.
• Experience in construction or commercial architectural millwork preferred.
• Familiarity with AWI standards and Bluebeam is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor projects to ensure on-time delivery and meet customer expectations.
• Serve as liaison between production, general contractor, designers, and end user.
• Perform site visits and review construction documents and notes for production.
• Understand P&L concepts and assist with budget and cost reporting.
• Support multiple jobs in varied construction stages and manage orders for materials.

Job description

USAM-DC, a high-end architectural millwork, is looking for an ambitious Assistant Project Manager to join our team. This position will provide the opportunity to learn how to successfully manage variably sized millwork construction projects from inception to completion; and assist the Senior Project Mangers and Project Managers with the following job functions: review all documents related to multiple millwork projects including; approved shop drawings, architectural plans and specifications, equipment cut sheets, product fact sheet for material handling and fabrication; and review drawings with field conditions, adding notes as needed for production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate and monitoring of projects to ensure customers’ expectations are met and that the product is delivered on time.
• Communicator between in-house production and the general contractor, the designers and the end user on projects to ensure success.
• Perform job site visits and act as a liaison between the customer and production.
• Reviews and gain an understanding of construction documents and contacts.
• Coordinate multiple jobs in various stages of construction.
• Gain an understanding of P&Ls and reviews reports with financial responsibility of the project.Order material for jobs as needed.
• Create sample packages to supply customers as needed.
• Mentored directly by Senior Project Manager & Project Management team.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Preferred Education and Skills (in addition to the required)

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Wood Technology, or related
• Experience working in the construction or commercial architectural millwork industry
• Familiarity with AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) standards
• Familiarity with Bluebeam

• Understanding of architectural drawings
• Strong desire to develop a career in the Architectural Millwork industry
• Ability to follow instructions and take initiative when necessary
• Excellent time and project management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with the MS Office Suite programs

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a both an office environment and on or near the shop floor where there may be moving mechanical parts with occasional exposure to the risk of electrical shock, outdoor weather conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally high.
