Job summary

6 Degrees Search seeks an Assistant Project Manager for our Richmond, VA area team. You will work with a Senior PM on active heavy civil/highway projects, handling submittals, RFIs, procurement, and cost tracking from day one.

You’ll interface with owners and inspectors as you ramp to independently run projects on a growing backlog, with relocation assistance available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 3–10 years of heavy civil, highway, or utility project experience.
• Proficiency with construction scheduling and cost tracking; HeavyJob/Bluebeam/P6 exposure is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
• Valid driver's license; travel is primarily local.

Responsibilities

• Drive submittals, RFIs, and procurement schedules to keep field crews ahead.
• Coordinate subcontractors and supplier purchase orders to protect schedule.
• Track quantities, production, and costs against budget; flag variances early.
• Support monthly payment requisitions, cost projections, and project docs.
• Attend weekly project team meetings covering schedule and cost.
• Support a safety culture across the project team.
