Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager and Superintendent with daily administrative and project tasks. You will manage purchase orders, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, and job costs, with potential growth into a Project Manager role.

The role emphasizes reading drawings, preparing schedules, coordinating with officials, and maintaining profit margins across multiple sites, with travel up to 30% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent.
• 3+ years’ experience in heavy highway construction preferred.
• 2+ years in an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer role.
• Experience with construction management software such as HCSS, Primavera, or P6.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Prepare and analyze project schedules.
• Review site safety, permits and traffic/silt plans.
• Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders with contacts for Superintendents.
• Develop and track job cost codes; update monthly projections.
• Coordinate activities with local officials to stay in good standing.
