Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support day-to-day project administration and management. You will assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with purchase orders, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, and job cost projections.

This role is a stepping stone to a Project Management position within our heavy highway division. The ideal candidate brings a civil engineering or construction management background, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management or equivalent
• 3+ years’ experience in heavy highway construction preferred
• 2+ years in an Assistant Project Manager role or Project Engineer role
• Experience with construction management software (HCSS, Primavera, P6) is a plus
• Must be able to travel up to 30%

Responsibilities

• Read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Prepare and analyze project schedules and costs.
• Review site safety and traffic plans; ensure permits are obtained.
• Maintain subcontracts and purchase orders with contacts for Superintendents.
• Coordinate construction activities with local officials and owners.
• Prepare submittals, change orders, and payment requisitions.
• Develop relationships with Owners and Project Engineers.
• Visit projects regularly to stay updated on issues and progress.
