Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support day-to-day project administration on heavy civil construction and demolition projects.

You will assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with purchase orders, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, and job costs with an eye toward future growth into a Project Manager role. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management and 3+ years in heavy highway construction, plus 2+

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years’ experience working in heavy highway construction preferred.
• 2+ years’ in an Assistant Project Manager role and/or Project Engineer role.
• Experience in construction management software; HCSS, Primavera, P6 Scheduling experience a plus.
• Must have strong organizational skills in order to handle the variety of tasks assigned.
• Must develop positive working relationships with owners and project engineers as well as local government offices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage people, budget, schedule, and quality of work at multiple construction sites.
• Must be competent to perform complete and accurate project take-offs and estimates.
• Must be willing and able to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day project administrative and management needs.
• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with purchase orders, subcontracts, RFIs, submittals, and job costs.
• Prepare and analyze project schedules and ensure permits.
• Coordinate construction activities with local officials and stakeholders.
• Develop and submit monthly payment requisitions and change orders.
• Travel up to 30% to support multiple sites.
