Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support planning, execution, and close-out of heavy civil projects in the Houston area. You will assist the Project Manager to ensure safety, on-time delivery, and budget adherence while maintaining quality standards.

You will help develop plans, track progress, coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, and maintain project documentation. A related degree and 2+ years of experience are required; strong communication and organization

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in heavy civil construction or related industry.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
• Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, and safety regulations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites.
• Proactive problem-solver with a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and implementation of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Monitor project progress, identify issues, and help develop solutions.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams for timely delivery of materials and services.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation including reports, contracts, and change orders.
• Assist in managing project costs, including tracking expenses and processing invoices.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with specs and safety regulations.
• Facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and crews.
• Support the Project Manager in project administration and oversight.
• Participate in project meetings and provide updates on status.
• Contribute to identification and mitigation of project risks.
