Job summary

Kelly seeks an Assistant Project Manager in Syracuse, NY to support customer relations, procurement, subcontract coordination, and cost tracking on commercial construction projects.

You will assist the PM with change orders, scheduling, and closeout while traveling 2–3 days per week. Degree in Engineering/Architecture/Building Construction required, strong leadership and communication skills, and a solid work history.

Qualifications

• Must hold a 2- or 4-year degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Building Construction.
• Strong leadership, planning, analytical, and communication skills.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
• Travel to project sites as needed (2–3 days/week).
• Provide professional references upon request.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining relationships with clients, consultants and project teams.
• Support procurement of materials and services for ongoing projects.
• Distribute scope of work to subcontractors and vendors.
• Assist the Project Manager with subcontract creation and change orders.
• Support project accounting and tracking contract changes.
• Coordinate contracts with vendors and suppliers.
• Assist with project cost administration and approvals.
• Coordinate project schedules and communication protocols.
• Participate in field quality control and job meetings as needed.
• Assist in project closeout procedures and submittal records.

What’s a typical day as Assistant Project Manager?

• Assisting in maintaining relationships with clients, consultants, and project team members.

• Hold a 2- or 4-year degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Building Construction (this is required).
• Have strong leadership, planning, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Are highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Preferably have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar position within the commercial building construction industry.
• Have a solid, consistent work history.
• Are comfortable using computers and office equipment for daily tasks.
• Can travel to project sites as needed.
• Must provide professional references.
