Job summary

Flowtec Construction in the Chicago area is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support ground-up light industrial and commercial projects from a western suburb office. You will assist with budgets, schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and close coordination with subcontractors and design teams.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer with a General Contractor.
• Light industrial or ground-up construction experience preferred, but not required.
• Experience across commercial, healthcare, corporate interiors, aviation, or manufacturing projects also welcomed.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, project documentation, and scheduling.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Someone who values teamwork, mentorship, and a positive company culture.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers on ground-up light industrial and commercial construction projects.
• Assist with project budgets, schedules, forecasting, and cost tracking.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and field leadership.
• Assist with subcontractor buyout, procurement, and contract administration.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate progress with project stakeholders.
• Support projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
• Take on increasing project ownership as you develop toward a Project Manager position.
