Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support planning, management, and execution of assigned construction projects in California. The role involves coordinating with the Project Manager and Superintendent, overseeing quality and owner expectations, and managing subcontractor relationships.

Responsibilities include preparing the PMP, conducting pre-construction planning, value engineering, and ensuring permits and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a field commensurate with construction.
• Minimum of two years of commercial construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, management, and execution of construction projects from inception to closeout.
• Support PM and Superintendent in preparing PMP and implementation.
• Organize pre-construction planning meetings and participate in value engineering.
• Review plans/specifications; ensure completeness and permit compliance.
• Manage project materials and equipment procurement within budget and schedule.
• Negotiate changes with owners/subcontractors and track cost impacts.
• Mentor and delegate Project Engineering tasks as appropriate.
• Coordinate final close out: as-builts, punch lists, occupancy permit, and closeout letters.
