Job summary

MPI is seeking a Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager in Texas to support delivery of commercial construction from preconstruction through closeout. You will work with Project Managers and field teams to manage project controls, track schedules, and coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and subs.

The role offers a clear path toward future Project Management responsibilities, with a focus on documentation, cost tracking, and quality standards in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in CM, engineering, architecture, or related field.
  • 1–5 years of commercial construction experience as Project Engineer, APM, Coordinator, or similar.
  • Internship experience with a commercial general contractor is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to develop into a Project Manager role.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers throughout all phases of construction.
  • Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Assist with project scheduling, planning, and coordination activities.
  • Maintain project records and document control systems.
  • Coordinate communication between owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
  • Assist with subcontractor procurement and contract administration.
  • Monitor project progress and help identify potential schedule or cost impacts.
  • Participate in project meetings and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Track material procurement and lead times.
  • Assist with budget management, forecasting, and cost reporting.
  • Support project closeout activities, punch list management, and turnover documentation.
  • Promote quality standards and adherence to safety requirements.
