Job summary

MPI in New Jersey seeks an Assistant Project Manager to support commercial landscaping, site development, and outdoor construction projects across the state. You will work with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to ensure safety, schedule, budget, and quality standards are met.

The role requires a 1-5 year background in construction or landscape development, with proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with PM software. Travel to NJ project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field
• 1-5 years of experience in construction/site development
• Ability to read/interpret construction drawings and contracts
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook
• Experience with PM software (Procore/Viewpoint/Primavera) is a plus
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to travel to NJ project sites
• Self-motivated to grow into PM role

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with planning, coordination, and execution of multiple projects
• Support scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and change orders
• Coordinate with field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and clients
• Track costs, maintain budget reports, and assist forecasting
• Prepare RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and documentation
• Monitor material deliveries and procurement schedules
• Participate in project meetings with clients and teams
• Assist with project closeout, punch lists, as-builts, turnover
• Support safety standards and quality control
• Maintain accurate project records and reporting
• Identify and resolve issues to minimize delays and costs

Assistant Project Manager to support the successful execution of commercial landscaping, site development, and outdoor construction projects throughout New Jersey. This role will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Description

Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Landscape Construction, or a related field preferred.
• 1-5 years of experience in construction, landscape construction, sitework, or project management support.
• Strong understanding of project management principles and construction processes.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with project management software such as Procore, Viewpoint, Primavera, or similar platforms is a plus.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced construction environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Self‑motivated with a desire to grow into a Project Manager role.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout New Jersey as needed.
