Job description

A civil construction field engineer oversees on‑site construction activities, ensuring that work is completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with project plans and specifications. They coordinate with contractors, monitor progress, solve technical issues in the field, and verify that materials and workmanship meet required standards.

Our client is a long‑established, privately owned construction firm based in New Jersey, specializing in structural steel erection, precast concrete work, bridge rehabilitation, steel fabrication, and tower crane services. The company has operated for over 90 years, contributing to major projects across the East Coast, including high‑rise, infrastructure, and commercial developments.

Description

  • Oversees daily on‑site construction activities to ensure work aligns with project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Coordinates with contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to keep schedules on track and resolve technical issues.
  • Conducts inspections, monitors construction progress, and verifies the quality of materials and workmanship.
  • Reviews drawings, reports field conditions, and updates documentation to maintain accurate project records.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots engineering challenges in real time to keep the project moving efficiently.
  • Ensures compliance with local codes, environmental regulations, and company safety procedures.
