Job summary

Ascend Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced Construction Assistant Project Manager for a premier general contracting firm. You will help manage small-to-medium projects under a Project Manager, coordinating with Superintendents, architects, brokers, and subcontractors to deliver safe, efficient renovations for hospitality, office, life sciences and healthcare sectors.

Responsibilities include supporting budgets, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation, while mentoring

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of construction experience, with 2 years as a Project Engineer or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction principles, techniques, and procedures including project estimating and scheduling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, On Screen Take-Off (OST), Microsoft Project, Procore, BlueBeam, and PlanGrid.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for client meetings.
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to read architectural/engineering plans and specifications.
  • Mentor colleagues and participate in annual staff reviews.

  • Identify subs, prepare bidder RFPs, and qualify bids.
  • Prepare subcontractor agreements and keep insurance certificates current.
  • Assist with the permit process and city inspections.
  • Prepare meeting minutes and weekly status reports.
  • Identify, track, and assist with preparing project potential change orders (PCOs).
  • Assist Project Managers with updating project budgets and forecasts.
  • Track, review, and maintain RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and samples.
  • Code all documents for jobsite filing.
  • Complete project closeout documentation and assist in punch list tracking and review.
  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with the daily management of a variety of construction projects.

Construction Assistant Project Manager Job Description

Our client is a premier general contracting firm that specializes in transforming commercial space into flexible, efficient and creative work environments. It specializes in tenant improvements and commercial renovation projects. It works with clients from the hospitality, commercial office, life sciences, and healthcare industries.

The Assistant Project Manager is an important element of the team, with the technical knowledge to manage small-to-medium sized projects while working under the lead of a Project Manager to gain exposure on larger, more technical projects. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Superintendents in the field to manage a diversified portfolio of ongoing work, and will step into a mentoring role for Project Engineers and interns, helping build a capable, agile team of commercial construction experts. The Assistant Project Manager will also continue to build relationships within the commercial construction industry, including with clients, architects, construction managers, brokers, property managers, and subcontractors, all while ensuring projects are completed in a safe, efficient manner. Additional responsibilities for the Assistant Project Manager include the following:

Requirements

  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to adapt behavior to meet the needs of the project to ensure project success.
  • Ability to mentor colleagues and participate in annual staff reviews.
Education
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college with major coursework in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; or equivalent work experience.
