Job summary

A leading Texas-based heavy civil contractor is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects. This role provides hands-on experience in project management while offering opportunities for growth towards a Project Manager position. The ideal candidate has a background in heavy civil construction with relevant experience and education. Competitive salary and benefits package are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5+ years in heavy civil construction, preferably with TxDOT project exposure.
• Familiarity with Primavera P6, HCSS HeavyJob, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license with clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and maintaining project schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
• Help review and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts.
• Prepare RFIs, submittals, change orders, and pay applications.
• Track project costs, productivity, and progress.
• Support field teams to ensure safety, quality, and compliance.
• Maintain strong relationships with owners, engineers, and stakeholders.

About the Opportunity

A leading Texas-based heavy civil contractor is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of major TxDOT infrastructure projects. Position Overview

The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with the Project Manager and field leadership to coordinate scheduling, cost control, subcontractor management, and client communications. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in heavy civil construction who is looking to advance toward a Project Manager position.

Key Responsibilities
