Job summary

James G. Davis Construction Corporation in Rockville, MD is seeking an Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager I to support the project team with daily management, coordination, and execution of construction activities.

You will help with safety, quality, cost management, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and contract administration to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Experience with project management software and mentoring junior staff is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field or equivalent construction experience
  • General Contracting experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years construction experience
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction project management principles
  • Ability to mentor junior team members
  • Experience with project management and scheduling software
  • Some sustainable building experience or knowledge of sustainable practices
  • Certifications preferred (CPR/First Aid, OSHA 30, WELL, ILFI, LEED)

Responsibilities

  • Prepares cost estimates, generates scopes of work, and prepares preliminary schedules and site logistics
  • Assists with trade management, reviews trade partner work tickets, and manages submittals, RFIs, change orders, and schedules
  • May lead day-to-day PM on smaller projects and manage setup and coordination
  • Prepares subcontract agreements and purchase orders, assists in change proposals and change orders
  • Maintains contract documents and as-builts, enforces safety program, supports project closeout and punch list
  • Leads preconstruction, progress, and coordination meetings with stakeholders
  • Mentors junior team members and may have supervisory responsibilities
  • Assists owner invoicing and material invoicing reviews
