Summary
Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager I is responsible for assisting the project team with the daily management, coordination, and execution of the construction process. This role assists with safety management, quality, cost management, contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding and contract administration to ensure successful completion of the project, both timely and within budget.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field or equivalent construction experience
- General Contracting experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of previous construction experience
- Knowledge of principles and practices of engineering and construction project management, including safety standards
- Demonstrated ability to understand and learn technical systems and processes
- Ability to effectively mentor junior team members
- Project management and scheduling software experience
- Some sustainable building experience (such as LEED certified projects) or knowledge of sustainable building practices
- Certifications / accreditations preferred: CPR / First Aid, OSHA 30‑hour, WELL, ILFI, LEED
Technical Job Knowledge
- Prepares cost estimates, generates scopes of work, and prepares preliminary schedules and site logistics
- Assists with trade management, reviews trade partner work tickets, manages trade partner submittals, RFIs, change orders, and schedules; may be lead day‑to‑day PM on a smaller project, responsible for setting up, managing, and maintaining these items; may work on more than one project concurrently at various stages of construction
- Prepares subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and assists in the issuance of change proposals and change orders
- Creates and manages quality control and deficiency logs using software
- Maintains a complete, current, and accurate set of contract documents and as‑builts
- Enforces the DAVIS Safety program and participates in safety walks
- Assists in the management of the project closeout process, including preparing and completing project closeout checklists and managing the project punch list process
- Works effectively within the team and promotes a collaborative environment with owners, property managers, design team members, co‑workers, trade partners, vendors, and other contractors
- Leads trade partner preconstruction, progress, and coordination meetings
- Mentors and assists junior team members; may have formal supervisory responsibilities
- Provides and uses subcontractor qualification reports to assess trade partner performance
- Assists in monthly project owner invoicing, including trade partner invoicing reviews and material invoicing reviews

Salary and Benefits
The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is $88,000.00 – $105,000.00. DAVIS is committed to providing employees with a competitive total compensation package.
