Job summary

RSS. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in Reno, NV, to support electrical projects from inception to completion. Job Overview

The Assistant Project Manager supports and manages electrical projects from inception to completion. This role ensures successful project execution, including planning, design coordination, testing, commissioning, and adherence to quality, safety, and budgetary standards. The position may function under a Project Manager or Sr. Project Manager, or independently, preparing for full Project Manager responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service – respond to client needs promptly, resolve issues, promote company values, and identify future opportunities.
  • Project Management – perform duties from the Roles & Responsibility Matrix, procure long‑lead materials, maintain documentation, resolve problems, enforce quality control, coordinate subcontractors and internal divisions, manage change orders and claims, review contracts, close out projects, and enforce safety practices.
  • Financial Management – manage cash flow, cost‑to‑complete forecasting, budget development and maintenance, schedule of values, and profitability analysis.
  • Material Management – coordinate major buyouts, review submittals, manage procurement and rentals.
  • Team Leadership – oversee day‑to‑day tasks for Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, Field Engineers, and Project Managers, provide training, conduct reviews, administer corrective action plans, and manage vacation and overtime.
  • Cross‑Department Coordination – collaborate with Pre‑Award, Engineering, Project Accounting, and Field Operations to align budgets, designs, cost reporting, and on‑site logistics.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years as a Project Engineer or similar experience in the commercial electrical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and components.

  • Strong mathematical, deductive reasoning, and letter‑writing skills.
  • Excellent multitasking, motivation, and team training abilities.
Physical Requirements
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and lengthen documents, use a computer keyboard, and operate equipment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, lift up to 10 pounds, and perform occasional site visits involving uneven surfaces and personal protective equipment.
Work Environment

Project Managers typically work in an office environment but may visit worksites to observe projects and meet clients.
