Explore with us! Terracon's team of innovators and explorers are looking for a Construction Materials and Special Inspections Assistant Project Manager to join our team in Portland, OR. This position offers opportunities to work on high-profile high-rise, renewable energy, large commercial, large data center, and infrastructure construction projects.

As a Construction Materials and Special Inspection Assistant Project Manager, you will assist in managing all aspects of a Construction Materials and Special Inspection project to ensure it is completed safely, on time, within scope, and within budget. Responsibilities include completing the project as per its contracted scope, monitoring progress and performance against the project plan, communicating with clients, and supervising employees including staff training, development, and performance reviews.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  1. Manage a small project or one phase of a large project under direct supervision.
  2. Implement established project plans.
  3. Identify, resolve, or escalate operational problems to minimize delays.
  4. Lead safety efforts, including preparation and compliance with safety plans.
  5. Analyze project requirements, perform calculations, write reports, and complete deliverables.
  6. Coordinate activities of outside contractors to ensure satisfactory service standards.
  7. Estimate costs, resources, and time for project phases and monitor activities to meet targets.
  8. Engage in marketing outreach and client engagement to secure new contracts.
  9. Conduct project meetings and prepare regular status reports.
  10. Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet milestones.
  11. Submit project deliverables to clients as per scope and schedule.
  12. Ensure work is delivered within the approved budget.
  13. Coordinate with APR for oversight and review of critical project junctures.
  14. Assist in training, mentoring, and developing department employees.
  15. Develop understanding of project-related risks and company policies.
  16. Lead safety efforts and promote a safe work environment.
  17. Monitor quality standards and practices, engaging APRs early in projects.
Requirements:
  • 6 years of related experience or a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering or Geology, with at least 2 years' related experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
  • Preferred: 1-2 years' experience in construction quality control and/or special inspection services.
Preferred Certifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • Certifications in areas such as PTI, ICC, ACI, CWI, WABO, OBOA, NICET
