Construction Engineering Services - Assistant Construction Project Manager

The Construction Engineering Services group at DEA is actively seeking a qualified Assistant Construction Project Manager in Portland, OR. The role requires a range of experience and skills to support transportation construction project management in the Oregon Region. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an established career in construction management and will be responsible for:

  1. Supporting and managing DEA staff on construction projects under the guidance of regional management, owner’s staff, or independently.
  2. Monitoring construction activities and ensuring compliance with project requirements, including contract plans, specifications, agency, and jurisdictional standards, as well as best trade practices.
  3. Interacting with and supporting project client representatives and stakeholders.
  4. Communicating effectively, preparing written correspondence, and maintaining ongoing communication with client representatives and contractors.
  5. Negotiating and preparing construction contract change orders and cost estimates.
  6. Reviewing and coordinating quality and quantity documentation for transportation projects.
  7. Participating in proposal writing and review processes with regional marketing staff.
  8. Developing project schedules, scope of services, and fee estimates for approved projects.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Oregon (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience managing transportation and infrastructure construction projects in public or consulting roles.
  • Experience in construction inspection and field support on ODOT and/or local agency projects.
  • Experience with ODOT construction projects (preferred).
