HDR is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for our Building Engineering Services Business Group in Chicago, IL. Our team provides integrated facility and infrastructure design, including Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, and Site Civil Engineering. This role will focus on Tech/Media/Telecom, Data Centers, and Mission Critical infrastructure.

The Assistant Project Manager will oversee growth, operations, and technical leadership of the electrical team, including design, staff development, workload management, profitability, morale, and quality control. The role involves client engagement and collaboration with HDR leadership. Responsibilities also include marketing, project planning, and representing HDR within the industry.

Travel and extended stays at project sites are required.

As a Project Manager Assistant, you will:

  • Coordinate work of multidisciplinary teams throughout project lifecycle under supervision
  • Manage aspects of small projects or parts of larger projects
  • Handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Work on-site as needed, with willingness to travel and stay on-site for extended periods
  • Coordinate staffing and workload to meet deadlines
  • Monitor financial aspects and ensure projects stay within budget and schedule
  • Participate in periodic project reviews with leadership
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Perform additional duties as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating, scheduling, and project management software
  • Experience with designing complex healthcare, laboratory, or mission-critical data center facilities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills
