Job summary

RK Industries in El Mirage, AZ is hiring two Assistant Project Managers to support a multi-year mechanical construction project. You will work with senior PMs, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and suppliers to deliver a data center on schedule and within budget.

This field-based role is on-site daily; candidates should have 1–4 years of MEP construction experience and be able to manage RFIs, submittals, procurement, and project documentation from mobilization through closeout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 1–4 years of experience in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, piping, or broader MEP construction.
• Experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or in a comparable field-to-office construction role.
• Working knowledge of RFIs, submittals, buyout, procurement, pay applications, change orders, and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager and field leadership with daily project execution from mobilization through closeout.
• Own and maintain assigned mechanical project controls, including RFIs, submittals, procurement logs, change documentation, and schedule updates.
• Coordinate mechanical submittals through review, approval, tracking, and closeout.
• Assist with buyout, purchasing, and material procurement to support project schedule and budget goals.
• Help develop, update, and monitor project schedules against key milestones.
• Lead preconstruction turnover meetings for assigned scopes of work.
• Support budget development, job-cost tracking, forecasting, and cost-control efforts.
• Price, negotiate, document, and process change conditions and change orders.
• Maintain schedules of values, support progress billings, optimize cash flow, and assist with retention release.
• Review subcontractor and supplier invoices and support timely monthly contract valuations.
• Assist with contract review, subcontract preparation, and project documentation.
• Help ensure required permits, licenses, and project postings are current and compliant.
• Track labor loading, productivity, staffing needs, tools, and rental equipment utilization.
• Serve as a reliable connection between field teams and project-management staff to keep foremen, superintendents, subcontractors, and suppliers aligned.

We are hiring two Assistant Project Managers to support a multi-year, mission-critical mechanical construction project in El Mirage. You will work closely with senior Project Managers, Superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and suppliers to help deliver a large-scale data center project safely, on schedule, and within budget.

This is a field-based role. You will work from the jobsite and project trailer daily; it is not hybrid or remote.

What You’ll Bring

• 1–4 years of experience in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, piping, or broader MEP construction
• Experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or in a comparable field-to-office construction role
• Working knowledge of RFIs, submittals, buyout, procurement, pay applications, change orders, and project documentation
• Ability to manage assigned scopes independently while escalating risks, schedule impacts, and cost concerns early
• Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project—or the ability to learn quickly
• Strong construction communication skills and the ability to build credibility with craft professionals, foremen, Superintendents, subcontractors, owners, and vendors
• Strong organization, follow-through, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving jobsite environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered
• Ability and willingness to work full-time on-site in El Mirage, Arizona, for the duration of the approximately two-year assignment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, semiconductor, healthcare, or other complex mechanical construction projects
• Exposure to self-perform mechanical construction environments
• Experience working on large-scale HVAC, plumbing, piping, or process mechanical scopes
