Job summary

RK Industries is seeking a Mechanical Assistant Project Manager in Aurora, CO to support complex mechanical construction projects from kickoff through closeout. You will work with seasoned PMs and field leaders to develop hands-on capability in scheduling, procurement, cost tracking, submittals, change management, billing, and coordination.

Ideal candidates bring experience with mechanical/industrial construction, strong organization, and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting commercial, industrial, mechanical, MEP, plumbing, piping, HVAC, or construction projects.
• Familiarity with core project-management activities such as schedules, budgets, submittals, RFIs, change orders, procurement, and closeout.
• Strong organization and follow-through; ability to manage multiple deadlines without losing details.
• Clear communicator who can work effectively with project managers, superintendents, foremen, vendors, subcontractors, and customers.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with day-to-day execution of mechanical construction projects.
• Coordinate project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, permits, contracts, logs, meeting notes, and closeout materials.
• Help build, maintain, and update project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
• Coordinate material and equipment procurement with purchasing to protect schedule dates and budget targets.
• Assist with buyout, subcontractor agreements, vendor coordination, and invoice review.
• Track submittal status, approvals, procurement milestones, and long-lead materials.
• Prepare and support billing, schedule-of-values updates, retention tracking, and collections follow-up.
• Help price, document, negotiate, and process change conditions and change orders.
• Partner with field leaders on labor planning, productivity tracking, tool and rental-equipment needs, and jobsite priorities.
• Participate in project turnover, preconstruction, client, coordination, and internal project meetings.
• Support project closeout by maintaining accurate documentation and helping resolve outstanding items.
