Job summary

Luminate Partners in Chicago, IL is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to help deliver industrial, commercial and mission-critical construction projects. You will work with project managers and field teams to keep projects on time, on budget and to high standards.

You will gain exposure to budgets, schedules, procurement, subcontractor coordination and safety practices, with opportunities to progress into Project Management within a growing construction business.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction industry experience.
• Previous experience working for a General Contractor.
• Experience supporting the delivery of commercial, industrial or mission-critical construction projects.
• Understanding of construction processes, drawings, schedules and project documentation.
• Exposure to project budgets, subcontractor management and cost control.
• Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with Project Managers, Superintendents and subcontractors.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of responsibilities.
• Ability to work on projects in and around Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

Are you an ambitious Assistant Project Manager looking to join an established General Contractor in Chicago, IL, with the opportunity to work on exciting industrial and mission-critical construction projects?

We are currently working with a well-established General Contractor with a strong pipeline of work and an excellent backlog of projects, offering an Assistant Project Manager the opportunity to develop their career while contributing to the delivery of major construction projects across the Chicago market and wider Midwest region.

This is an excellent opportunity for an APM looking to take the next step in their career, gain exposure to complex projects, and work alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents and senior leadership within a growing construction business.

The Opportunity

You will support the successful delivery of major construction projects, working closely with the project management and field teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest standards.

This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience across the full project lifecycle, develop your commercial and technical construction knowledge, and progress towards a Project Manager position over time.

The Role

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the Project Manager with the day-to-day coordination and administration of construction projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the management of projects from preconstruction through to completion
• Supporting project budgets, schedules and cost control
• Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and design teams
• Managing RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentation
• Reviewing construction drawings, specifications and project plans
• Attending project meetings and maintaining clear communication between stakeholders
• Monitoring project progress and helping ensure key milestones are achieved
• Assisting with procurement, subcontractor coordination and material tracking
• Identifying potential project issues and supporting their resolution
• Working closely with Superintendents to coordinate site activities and project requirements
• Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and client satisfaction
• Supporting the successful delivery of projects within agreed budgets and schedules

What We're Looking For

We are keen to speak with motivated Assistant Project Managers who have:

• 3+ years of construction industry experience
• Previous experience working for a General Contractor
• Experience supporting the delivery of commercial, industrial or mission-critical construction projects
• A good understanding of construction processes, drawings, schedules and project documentation
• Exposure to project budgets, subcontractor management and cost control
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills

A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous.
