Job summary

Granger Construction is seeking a field-based Assistant Project Engineer Intern for paid hands-on experience across Lansing, MI sites. You will support project managers and field teams with documentation, scheduling, and daily coordination.

You will review drawings, track progress with daily logs and deliveries, and participate in on-site meetings to observe problem-solving and decision-making. You’ll assist in RFIs and submittals while learning safety and logistics practices.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in building construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work full-time.

Responsibilities

• Assist project documentation, scheduling, and coordination of daily activities.

The Role

As a field-based Assistant Project Engineer Intern, you will:

• Support project managers and field teams by assisting in project documentation, scheduling, and coordination of daily activities.
• Review project drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with project goals and compliance with industry standards.
• Track and document project progress, including daily logs, material deliveries, and work completed.
• Participate in on-site meetings to gain exposure to real-time problem-solving and decision-making.
• Assist in the preparation of RFIs (Requests for Information) and submittals to ensure project milestones are met.
• Contribute to maintaining project safety standards by observing and reporting on-site conditions.
• Engage with subcontractors and suppliers, supporting procurement and logistics activities.

Location

Potential project sites for internship placements throughout Ohio include the following:

• Lansing, MI
• East Lansing, MI

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in building construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with the capability to lead by example.
• Proactive problem-solving skills and a self-starter mentality.
• A strong work ethic with dedication to meeting deadlines.
