Job summary

Granger Construction invites an ambitious student to join our internship program as a Field-based Assistant Project Engineer Intern in Lansing, MI / East Lansing, MI. You’ll work alongside project managers and field teams, gaining hands-on experience in documentation, scheduling, and daily coordination on active projects.

You will review drawings, track progress, attend on-site meetings, and help prepare RFIs and submittals while upholding safety standards and professional communication.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in building construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to lead by example.
• Proactive problem-solving and a self-starter mentality.
• Willingness to work full-time.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers and field teams with project documentation and scheduling.

• Track daily logs, material deliveries, and work progress.

The Role

As a field-based Assistant Project Engineer Intern, you will:

• Support project managers and field teams by assisting in project documentation, scheduling, and coordination of daily activities.
• Review project drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with project goals and compliance with industry standards.
• Track and document project progress, including daily logs, material deliveries, and work completed.
• Participate in on-site meetings to gain exposure to real-time problem-solving and decision-making.
• Assist in the preparation of RFIs (Requests for Information) and submittals to ensure project milestones are met.
• Contribute to maintaining project safety standards by observing and reporting on-site conditions.
• Engage with subcontractors and suppliers, supporting procurement and logistics activities.

Potential project sites for internship placements throughout Ohio include the following:

• Lansing, MI
• East Lansing, MI
