What this job involves:

As the Assistant Program Manager (APM) for Capacity Planning, you will execute the full Discovery-to-BAU cycle for capacity planning under the oversight of the Program Manager, serving as the primary builder of capacity planning models across Amazon Travel & Events. This role combines project management expertise with analytical capabilities to deliver validated models that support workforce planning and operational efficiency. What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Execute the full discovery-to-business as usual (BAU) development cycle for prioritized capacity planning models including conducting scope assessments to define work boundaries, roles, and performance expectations
  • Design, build, and execute time study analyses to measure effort per task across role levels and complexity tiers while coordinating time study logistics including participant scheduling, data collection instruments, and completion tracking
  • Conduct process optimization assessments to identify inefficiencies and unnecessary steps while providing optimization recommendations before model construction to ensure models are built on efficient baselines
  • Facilitate working sessions with stakeholders to align upon model inputs and construct model calculations utilizing optimized-process baselines
  • Facilitate validation exercises to confirm model accuracy against known operational patterns while engaging with the Data Analyst on dashboard requirements and data pipeline needs
  • Support handover of completed capacity planning models for BAU operations with monitoring protocols and contribute to governance review processes and model recalibration cycles
  • Support implementation of new and revised key performance indicators by coordinating KPI development stages including requirements gathering, data onboarding, build, validation, and launch
  • Track project milestones, dependencies, and deliverables across multiple workstreams while proactively identifying and resolving blockers or dependencies to maintain project momentum
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, status reporting, and RAID logs while supporting stakeholder communication between Program Manager, data team, and service line teams.
Required Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of experience in capacity planning, operations, or a business management role with a strong analytical focus and demonstrated experience with workforce analytics or staffing models in a dynamic operational environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel including complex formulas, pivot tables, data modeling, and scenario analysis with ability to build sophisticated capacity planning calculations
  • Experience conducting time studies, scope assessments, or structured process analysis with understanding of how to measure task effort and translate findings into workforce models
  • Working understanding of project management methodologies and how cross-functional initiatives are scoped and executed with strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities across 4-8 week build cycles
  • Experience with BI tools such as QuickSight, Tableau, or Power BI with ability to engage effectively on dashboard requirements and data visualization needs
  • Ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholder groups, translating data and analysis into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills with comfort presenting findings and recommendations to leadership and operational teams
  • Strong time management and deadline-driven work ethic in a fast-paced environment with proactive communication style and strong follow-through on commitments
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Project Management, Operations Management, or related field, or equivalent experience demonstrating analytical and project management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with demand forecasting or scenario modeling in workforce planning or operations contexts with understanding of how capacity models adapt to changing business conditions
  • SQL experience enabling direct data extraction and validation to support capacity planning model development and KPI measurement
  • Experience with AI tools, including prompt development and AI-assisted analysis, that enhance analytical efficiency and insight generation
  • Familiarity with project management platforms such as Smartsheet or Asana with experience maintaining project tracking, milestone monitoring, and dependency management
  • Previous experience supporting Amazon accounts or working in corporate environments with understanding of large-scale operational complexity
  • Background in Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies that inform process optimization assessments
  • Experience building comprehensive documentation and training materials for model handover and BAU operations
  • Knowledge of workforce management systems or capacity planning platforms used in corporate service delivery environments.

Estimated compensation for this position:

88,200.00 - 108,100.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
