The California State University, Long Beach, invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Translation Studies. Qualifications

Ph.D. in Translation Studies, Applied Linguistics, Comparative Literature, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated proficiency in English and at least two of the Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish).
Formal training and professional experience in translation; background in interpreting.
Experience teaching translation theory and practice at the university level.
Evidence of scholarly publication and an active research agenda in Translation Studies or related field.
Commitment to working with diverse student populations, including first-generation students.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Translation Studies, including translation theory and methodology, CAT tools, MT and post-editing.
Integrate interpreting studies into curricula and collaborate with related programs.
Design/update courses to reflect emerging technologies and industry standards.
Mentor MA theses and supervise graduate research in Translation Studies.
Maintain an active research agenda and engage with professional networks.
Develop partnerships with translators, agencies, associations, and universities.
Facilitate internships and industry collaborations for students.
Participate in department, college, and university service and planning.
