Qualifications

• MA or equivalent in Interpreting Studies, Translation and Interpreting, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field by Aug 1, 2027.
• Demonstrated potential for effective undergraduate/graduate teaching in interpreting theory and practice, including consecutive and simultaneous interpreting.
• Commitment to working with diverse student populations, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students.
• Demonstrated professional interpreting experience.
• Active or developing program of research in interpreting studies or related fields.
• Ability to use interpreting technologies and remote platforms.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in interpreting theory and practice, including consecutive and simultaneous interpreting; sight translation; court/legal, medical/healthcare, educational, community, and conference interpreting; professional ethics; and interpreting technology.
• Recruit and coordinate a multilingual interpreter pool for language-pair modules and needs
• Develop and update curriculum; supervise interpreting laboratories, practica, internships, and performance-based assessments; prepare students for certification exams
• Build partnerships with courts, healthcare institutions, schools, and community organizations
• Integrate real-world case studies, simulations, and community-based practicum experiences into coursework
• Train students in active listening, memory development, note-taking, delivery, and ethical decision-making
• Support M.A. in Translation and Interpreting by teaching new courses and guiding theses
• Contribute to workforce preparation and equitable language access for high-demand languages
