The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Houston invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sedimentology and Stratigraphy with research that focuses on the dynamics of ancient and/or modern coastal, estuarine, and/or marine systems.

Applicants employing field observations, laboratory analyses, geospatial methods, geochronology, paleontology/ichnology, geochemical proxies, subsurface imaging, paleoenvironmental reconstructions, numerical modeling, or integrative approaches to understand the dynamics of coastal systems and environments are encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates are expected to build active collaborations within and outside the university, to provide synergy with existing research at UH, to develop externally funded research programs that are internationally recognized, to teach graduate and undergraduate level courses, and to use their research to enhance experiential education at UH.

Qualifications

PhD in Earth Sciences or related field. Candidates must have a Ph.D. at the time of the appointment.
